Event/Course Description
“Exascale” computers are supercomputers of the future that will be able to compute at least 10^18 floating-point operations per second (1 exaFLOPS). You might wonder what this means and in what way Slovenia plays an important role in supercomputing development with its knowledge, investments in infrastructure and usage of powerful systems — all of this will be presented at the Open Day of Slovenian Supercomputer Centres on October 25th.
Some of the most powerful Slovenian supercomputers will be presented:
- EuroHPC Vega hosted at the Institute of Information Science in Maribor is considered one of the most powerful supercomputers in the world,
- Arctur-2 at the Arctur company in Nova Gorica,
- the supercomputer clusters of the Academic of Research and Network of Slovenia and the Jožef Štefan Institute on Teslova Street in Ljubljana,
- and HPC Trdina at the Faculty of Information Studies in Novo Mesto,
- Maister at the University of Maribor,
- Azman Computing Center at the National Institute of Chemistry on Hajdrihova Street in Ljubljana.
