Funded by the European High-Performance Computing Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC U) under the powers delegated by the European Commission (EC)—with half of the budget provided by the home countries of the partners’ institutions—, the 3rd phase of the Centre of Excellence in Simulation of Weather and Climate in Europe, ESiWACE3, teams up climate modelling groups and weather services with high-performance computing centres and partners from the IT industry to improve all aspects of the workflow of weather and climate modelling. By enabling more detailed resolving weather and climate simulations on the upcoming exascale supercomputers, the required technology for better and more detailed climate-related risk assessments on a local level can be provided.
