fortissimo plus

We are pleased to announce the successful completion of the Fortissimo Plus (FFplus) project, launched on May 1, 2024, with six Open Calls targeting European SMEs and startups. This European initiative, designed to foster innovation through High-Performance Computing (HPC) and Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI), also saw BitBang participating as a partner in the GenAI4add project.

Fortissimo Plus provided funding opportunities and technical support to help companies develop advanced HPC- and AI-based solutions, enhancing digital competitiveness across Europe’s industrial landscape. Through their participation, numerous innovative organizations were able to test new methodologies and technologies — from training generative models to leveraging synthetic data for forecasting and optimizing industrial processes. Particular emphasis was placed on transparency, interpretability, and the strategic impact of AI.

From Research to Prototype: BitBang’s Experience

Within this framework, BitBang contributed through the GenAI4add project, aimed at developing a SaaS prototype based on GenAI models pre-trained on 3D printing data, sensor logs, and images collected from multiple printers.

The resulting solution enables SMEs to:

  • Anticipate critical production events (such as equipment failures, material usage, and cost fluctuations);
  • Optimize supply chains;
  • Improve sustainability and operational efficiency.

Over the course of the project, BitBang expanded and strengthened its technological and strategic expertise, further consolidating its role in Europe’s digital transformation landscape. Its commitment within Fortissimo Plus can be summarized in several key focus areas:

  • Time-series forecasting with GenAI
  • Synthetic data generation
  • AI transparency and explainability
  • HPC-driven innovation
  • Applications in additive manufacturing
A Growing Ecosystem

With the conclusion of Fortissimo Plus, the activities and experiments carried out by project partners now contribute to a valuable legacy of success stories, expertise, and practical use cases. This legacy will continue to inspire the adoption of HPC and AI among enterprises across Europe.

Within this ecosystem, EuroCC Italy plays a pivotal role in facilitating companies’ access to HPC technologies by providing strategic guidance, training, and specialized technical support. In particular, we support SMEs and startups in identifying the most suitable computing infrastructures, assessing relevant use cases, and effectively adopting HPC- and AI-based solutions, fostering technology transfer and the dissemination of advanced skills across the national landscape.
