On 20 November, from 9:30 to 17:00, the traditional annual conference dedicated to the use of high-performance computing for science and innovation was held in the large conference hall of the University of National and World Economy (UNWE), Sofia. The conference was organised by the Bulgarian National Competence Centre, established within the European EuroCC project, which created a network of 33 centres in the field of high-performance computing and its applications in AI and high-performance data analytics. The NCC is built by a consortium led by the Institute of Information and Communication Technologies at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (IICT-BAS), with members Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” and the University of National and World Economy.

 

The opening of the conferences

The conference was opened by Prof. Dimitar Dimitrov (Rector of UNWE) and Corresponding Member Prof. Svetozar Margenov (Director of IICT-BAS). The event was attended by representatives of leading companies, researchers, and experts in high-performance computing, high-performance data analytics, and artificial intelligence.

This is the fifth consecutive year in which the conference has been held. The event presented new trends and initiatives in the field of high-performance computing, the Centre’s portfolio of services and expertise, the competence map, updates in training activities, approaches to working with industry, success stories, significant results achieved throughout the year, as well as cooperation with other initiatives and centres. During the event, two round-table discussions with representatives from industry took place, focusing on collaboration between academia and industry.
