“Smart Industry”, the most important industrial event in Estonia, is a meeting place, conference, and contact fair for leaders in manufacturing and industrial solution providers - CEOs, production managers, factory managers, engineers, development managers, and others responsible for development and digitalization. The event took place on March 19 and it attracted nearly 700 participants.

This year, “Smart Industry” raised a question of how to manage industry more intelligently to support competitiveness. It is essential to ensure competitiveness, increase added value, and occupy higher positions in the value chain. Modern HPC solutions, among other things, play an important role in solving this challenge. Therefore, a workshop was held as part of the event, introducing the application possibilities of HPC in industry.
The event was led by HPC experts and experienced supercomputer users. NCC Estonia representatives Rainer Liis and Ülar Allas introduced the principles of using HPC. Student Formula's lead aerodynamics engineer Hardi Hakk explained the role of HPC in the team's work processes, and Evelin Ebruk from the Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Centre AIRE gave an overview of the possibilities of using HPC and artificial intelligence infrastructure in Estonia.
At the workshop, company representatives heard practical experiences from using HPC: what challenges they faced, what were the main obstacles, how data was collected and processed, and what was the impact of the results. In addition, the event offered participants a good opportunity to gain inspiration, exchange knowledge, and understand the possibilities of using HPC technology. The evening ended with networking.
