GAGNVIST 2026 takes place on 26 November 2026 at Gróska in Reykjavík, Iceland. The conference brings together people across the Icelandic data ecosystem to explore how good data management and data quality can support the use of artificial intelligence. It is aimed at organisations and professionals who collect, manage, share or use data, including public institutions, businesses and the research community.
The event connects data providers and users around the opportunities to create value through better access to data and the application of AI. Planned themes include user needs and official statistics, public policy for data and AI, improvements to data infrastructure, and practical examples of innovation using data. Participants can exchange experience and learn about developments across the Icelandic data ecosystem.
For the HPC community, the preliminary programme includes a discussion of access to computing resources in Iceland. The linked GAGNAÞON 2026 datathon challenges participants to build an AI-powered search tool for official statistics, with computing options including GPU systems and the LUMI supercomputer. Datathon results will be announced at the conference, connecting the discussion of data and AI with practical applications.
Attendance is free, but registration is required. Programme details remain provisional and may change.
