Description: This hands-on workshop introduces Pixi through practical exercises in setting up and sharing software environments for scientific and development workflows. Participants will create a project, manage dependencies, work with a lockfile and define tasks. We will use these examples to discuss reproducibility and compare environment management with container-based workflows, including when operating-system isolation is needed.
Participants will work through a small example project, from initial setup to sharing its environment definition. Short introductions will alternate with guided exercises and discussion. The workshop will conclude with a comparison of Pixi and container workflows and questions from participants.
