The 30th International IEEE Conference on Information Technology (IT 2026) in Žabljak featured a three-day programme dedicated to HPC and AI applications in science, industry, and digital transformation, organized within the EuroCC2 and EuroCC4SEE frameworks. The first day included parallel scientific sessions covering AI, HPC, data analytics, and software engineering, followed by a workshop on applying HPC and AI to enhance tourism offerings. A project trade fair showcased innovative solutions like GetMoved, Wasco AI, DeepMark, and AI Heal, bridging the research and business communities.
On the second day, a panel moderated by NCC Montenegro explored HPC applications in science and industry, beginning with a discussion on Montenegro's National AI Strategy and the centre's role in training, researcher support, and EuroHPC access. Representatives from NCCs in Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, and the Montenegrin AI Association shared their experiences with HPC in medical research, industrial applications, and workforce development.
The third day featured a dedicated EuroCC4SEE session where NCC Montenegro highlighted its achievements, including over 30 training events, collaboration with 15+ companies, and support for 10+ EuroHPC applications. NCCs from Serbia, Türkiye, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and North Macedonia presented their infrastructure developments, training programs, and industry partnerships. Montenegrin companies including OneAI, Five G, DeepMark, and others demonstrated solutions leveraging HPC infrastructure for AI model development, simulations, and process optimization. B2B meetings between NCCs, companies, and researchers facilitated direct collaboration opportunities throughout the event. The conference underscored the growing importance of cooperation between academia, industry, and European initiatives like EuroHPC in building a strong regional HPC ecosystem. Overall, the event demonstrated tangible progress in making supercomputing and AI technologies accessible and practically applicable across Southeast Europe.
