The Slovak HPC infrastructure is becoming more accessible and versatile thanks to two recent service updates introduced by the Computing Centre of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, a partner of NCC Slovakia. The Open OnDemand web interface is now available on both the Perun and Devana supercomputers, while the Amsterdam Modeling Suite (AMS) has been added to Devana's software portfolio, expanding opportunities for computational chemistry and materials science research.

Easier Access to HPC with Open OnDemand

Open OnDemand (OOD) provides a user-friendly, browser-based interface that simplifies access to high-performance computing resources. Now available on both Perun and Devana, it allows researchers and other HPC users to work with supercomputing systems without relying exclusively on command-line tools or SSH clients.

Through the web interface, users can submit and monitor computational jobs, manage files, and access supported interactive applications.

This development is particularly valuable for researchers and organisations taking their first steps in HPC, helping to lower technical barriers and make advanced computing resources more approachable.

Users are encouraged to explore the interface and share feedback to support its continued development.

Amsterdam Modeling Suite Expands Research Opportunities on Devana

The Amsterdam Modeling Suite (AMS) is now available on the Devana supercomputer, providing researchers with advanced tools for molecular simulations, computational chemistry, and materials modelling.

AMS supports a broad range of scientific applications, including the investigation of molecular structures and chemical reactions, materials properties, catalysis, molecular dynamics, spectroscopy, and energy-related materials.

By combining different computational approaches, including Density Functional Theory (DFT) and molecular dynamics, AMS enables researchers to investigate complex scientific questions using HPC resources.

To support the scientific community in adopting the software, a dedicated workshop in cooperation with AMS developers is planned. Researchers interested in participating or suggesting specific topics are encouraged to contact the HPC team.
