The 48th VI‑HPS Tuning Workshop was delivered in a hybrid format, bringing participants together both online and onsite at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC). Hosted by BSC in collaboration with POP3 and CASTIEL2, the workshop provided an intensive introduction to performance analysis and optimisation techniques for modern HPC applications. Participants worked directly with the VI‑HPS tool suite—such as Score‑P, Scalasca, Vampir, TAU, MAQAO, Extrae/Paraver, and LIKWID—and applied these tools in hands‑on sessions using the MareNostrum 5 supercomputer.

Across the programme, attendees learned how to instrument applications, interpret performance data, explore communication and memory behaviour, and apply systematic optimisation strategies to improve scalability on large‑scale systems. The workshop’s combination of expert instruction, practical exercises, and real‑world HPC environments enabled participants to build confidence in performance‑engineering workflows and to transfer these methodologies into their own research and training activities.
