Modern scientific research requires significant computational performance and complex infrastructure. Container technologies offer an effective solution for this, enabling applications and their dependencies to run in isolation on a shared system kernel. The two leading technologies are Docker (a general-purpose platform) and Singularity/Apptainer (optimized for HPC environments). Their advantages include quick deployment, resource efficiency, and flexible scalability.

During the workshop, participants can become familiar with both technologies and their practical applications.

Lecturer: Gábor János Tornai PhD (softver developer, StreamNovation Ltd..; HPC expert, DKF)

Language of the workshop: English

Venue: online/teams

There is no minimum requirement from the participants regarding software expertise but it is expected that docker-ce and singularity 3.9 or later is installed on the participant's machine.

Participation is free, but registration is needed.
