About the Quantum in Practice series

Discover the Quantum in Practice series, a continuing program of technical trainings dedicated to exploring the technologies, tools, and real-world applications shaping today’s quantum-computing ecosystem.

Each session features a leading quantum technology provider presenting their platforms, showcasing demonstrations, and guiding participants through practical exercises that illustrate how quantum computing can be applied to industrial and scientific challenges.

Session 5 – Alice&Bob: Decode Like a Cat: An Introduction to QEC with Cat Qubits

🗓 Date: Tuesday, November 3rd, 2026
 Time: 14:00 – 16:00 CET
 Format: Online (Webex)
🎙 Speakers: Charbel Eid « : I’m a specialist in Fault Tolerant Quantum Computing, in particular, the first steps in going from highly error prone hardware to a QPU that can consistently perform computation. I find myself today in one of the most interesting environments that someone with my passion can be in, and I love telling people about the things being built here!«

 Presentation Summary

« In this session, you will explore the basics of quantum error correction, understand how it works with cat qubits, and learn how to decode error correction codes yourself. Sounds complicated, but it’s basically like Minesweeper!

You will then build your own error correction circuit, just like we do at Alice & Bob. Well… maybe a simpler one.«

  About Alice&Bob

Alice & Bob is building a quantum computer using superconducting Cat Qubits, a type of qubits that is naturally resistant to bit-flips.
