Event/Course Description

This course is from beginners level (the first steps on a supercomputer) to intermediate level (some experience on VSC or another compute cluster).

You will first of all find out how a supercomputer works, what the architecture looks like and what the differences are to your own machine.

In this course we will show you the ropes for using the VSC clusters, Austria's most powerful supercomputers, through the newly established Jupyterhub.

We will help you find your barings on Jupyterhub, show you how to make your own Jupyter notebooks and teach you how to pre- and postprocess your data. We will also guide you through some exciting use cases from machine learning and show you the speedup you get by running your models on a cluster.

Should you not find what you need in the singularity images provided, we will teach you how to make your own and upload it to the cluster.
