Event/Course Description
Wind energy, being one of the renewable energy sources, is utilized through the use of onshore or offshore wind turbines in wind farms. In this intermediate level training, the demo applications for the Computational Fluid Dynamics simulations using SU2 and OpenFOAM flow solvers for the flow fields around wind turbine airfoils, HAWT and VAWT rotors are presented. Also, for comprehensive modeling and performance analysis of complete wind turbine systems, the simulations using HAMS and OpenFAST codes are presented. The selected computational test cases and how to run these cases on TRUBA HPC infrastructure are presented through demo applications.
