Overview
This training course, a part of the CFD Seminar Series, focuses on the introduction to CFD, hands-on experience on open-source CFD software installation and usage, examples of CFD applications, and how to run CFD simulations on HPC systems.
Description
Introduction to an open-source Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software, Code_Saturne that was developed by EDF R&D, and hands-on applications will be given in this two-day training. With this CFD software, which can solve Navier-Stokes equations using many different turbulence models, from Reynolds-Averaged Navier Stokes (RANS) models to Large-Eddy Simulations (LES), different flow problems can be solved numerically. The objective is to give general information about Code_Saturne open-source CFD software, to help users to download and install Code_Saturne, to give information about basic working principles, to explain sending serial and parallel jobs on TRUBA parallel computers, and to show sample applications. The grid generation using Salome and the visualization with ParaView are also briefly covered.
