EuroCC Finland is part of the EuroCC2 project, operating as the national Finnish HPC competence center. EuroCC Finland's mission is to support and improve the capabilities of users in the Finnish business, industry, academia and public organisations to utilise the opportunities of high-performance computing, data analytics, artificial intelligence as well as quantum computing. It provides access to high-performance computing (HPC) resources of the EuroHPC LUMI Supercomputer and offers training and support for RDI focused use of the these modern technologies.
EuroCC Finland is operated by the CSC – IT Center for Science. CSC – IT Center for Science is a well-established non-profit special task enterprise, owned by the state and higher education institutions. As part of the national research system, CSC develops, integrates and provides high-quality information and innovation technology services and ensures that Finland has the best possible ICT resources to remain at the forefront of development. CSC is also the host and coordinator for LUMI AI Factory.
Services
High-performance computing (HPC)
High-performance computing involves using many processing units in parallel on a supercomputer to solve complex computational problems. Supercomputers offer vast processing power and memory, making it possible to perform calculations that would be too slow or impossible on a standard computer. HPC enables new types of product development and innovation utilizing computing, simulation as well as novel methods in data analytics and artificial intelligence.
For industry, SME's and startups
Companies can benefit from extensive use of HPC as part of their RDI activities. Up to 20% of Finland's LUMI supercomputer’s capacity has been reserved for Finnish companies, which represents a major investment. In addition, it is possible to obtain expert support from CSC, collaborate with higher education and research institutions, and get advisory support in applying for funding for RDI projects.
The companies can start using the LUMI computing service in a "Try&Buy" project, in which they can try out LUMI’s suitability for company´s computing needs before making the investment.
Try & Buy test project includes
- a LUMI project and credentials for two users
- CPU, GPU, and storage resources for testing
- expert support for LUMI project deployment.

For academic use
HPC is used across almost every scientific field, from social sciences to natural sciences. CSC has a long-standing partnership with the Finnish research community – including universities, research institutes, universities of applied sciences – providing services and support for their HPC needs. The LUMI computing service is free of charge for academic users.
You can find academic use cases for the LUMI supercomputer´s web pages.
Training
Our training provides you assistance and advice in using our services. Our range of courses covers for example scientific computing, data management and AI methods. You will be guided by top experts and you can network with other participants. We organize training for both academic and business users from beginners to advanced users.

Supercomputer resources
EuroHPC Supercomputer LUMI
CSC is the coordinator of the LUMI consortium (Large Unified Modern Infrastructure), which hosts the EuroHPC supercomputer LUMI. LUMI is one of the pan-European pre-exascale supercomputers, suited specifically for AI development. LUMI is one of the world’s most advanced AI development platforms with over 3000 scientific projects run on LUMI, and over half of it's resources have been utilized for AI-related research and innovation. In 2025, LUMI consortium countries were Finland, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Iceland, Netherland, Norway, Poland, Sweden, and Switzerland. In Summer 2025, LUMI ranked #9 in the top500 list. It is one of the world’s best-known scientific instruments for the lifespan of 2021–2027.
National Supercomputers
CSC hosts two national supercomputers, Puhti and Mahti. Puhti caters a wide range of use cases from interactive data analysis to medium scale simulations, while Mahti is a supercomputer designed for massively parallel jobs that require large floating-point performance and a capable interconnect. Mahti is in particular geared towards medium to large scale simulations. Also, smaller parallel workloads that are able to use full nodes efficiently can utilize Mahti. CSC's next national supercomputer Roihu, will also be available for researchers use early 2026.
Kajaani datacenter
LUMI supercomputer is located in Kajaani data center in Finland, together with our national supercomputers. Our data center in Kajaani is one of the most sustainable data centers in the world. Kajaani’s northern location, plentiful availability of renewable energy and exceptional infrastructure create excellent conditions for eco-efficient data center operation.
